Spiritual Dialogues: Companions

Augustine is not talking about male comrades, but more generally about any fellow human being. We may even understand it as referring to any companion, human or not.

Authors

Hadi Fayyaz is a Twelver Shia Muslim who lives in Tehran, Iran. A PhD candidate in philosophy of art at Allameh Tabataba’i University, he graduated with MA degrees in art studies and architecture. He is mainly interested in the philosophical concept of the sublime and its several aspects. His other interests include the sacred tradition of art and architecture in various religious contexts and concepts of pain and suffering in philosophy and religion.

Noorin Fazal is an Ismaili Shia Muslim who lives in Vancouver, Canada. She is an educator in the Ismaili community and is passionate about intersections between art, spirituality, and ethics: through dialogue, narrative, and creative expression, people embrace their intercultural and interfaith connections for the betterment of all creation. Please note: Noorin is addicted to colourful post-its, cue cards and paperclips. Rehab involves group therapy and daily affirmations.

Sérgio Dias Branco is a Catholic Christian, and a lay member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), who lives in Coimbra, Portugal. He is enthusiastic about liberation theology, the spiritual facet of art, and ecumenical conversations in the search for truth (following his deep interest in other religions, especially Buddhism and Islam). Wim Van Moer is an atheistic humanist, and a former secular humanist counselor, who lives near Antwerp, Belgium. As a philosopher, he is mainly interested in the philosophy and history of atheism (particularly atheistic religiosity), the philosophy of religion, pluralism and the concept of tolerance. Wim also has a specific interest in the secret philosophy behind the 1980’s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
